The short answer

Briar is software that helps licensed insurance agents with administration. It drafts, sorts, reminds and prepares; it does not advise, and it does not send or submit anything until you approve. You keep ownership of your information and responsibility for your decisions.

1. Who we are and who may use Briar

Briar is operated by Ishan Thapa, an individual in Texas, USA (hello@meetbriar.com). Briar is for licensed insurance producers, and staff they supervise, who accept these terms. During the private beta it is offered by invitation, under the separate Beta Agreement, to Texas-licensed agents for life insurance and annuity business.

2. Briar is a tool, not an adviser

Briar prepares drafts, reminders, summaries and searches. It does not give insurance, legal, tax or investment advice, it is not an insurance agent, and it makes no representation about coverage, eligibility or pricing. You are the licensed person: you review everything Briar prepares and you decide. Briar does not send an email, submit an application or change your records until you approve it. You remain responsible for everything you send, sign or submit.

3. Your information

You keep ownership of what you put into Briar. You give us permission to handle it only to run Briar for you, as the Privacy Policy describes. You promise that you may lawfully share it with a software tool under your carrier contracts, your agency's rules and the law, and that you will not put into Briar information you are not allowed to share.

4. Rules of use

5. Third-party services

Briar connects to services you choose, such as Gmail. Their terms apply to them, and you can disconnect at any time from your Google account.

6. Our content

The software, the name and the design belong to us. You receive a personal, non-transferable permission to use Briar while these terms apply.

7. Cost

The private beta is at no charge unless we agree otherwise in writing before you start. If paid plans begin, the price, taxes and renewal will be shown to you before you pay.

8. No warranty, and a limit on what we owe

Briar is provided as is and as available, and early software makes mistakes. To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that it is accurate, complete, uninterrupted or fit for a purpose, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability for anything connected to Briar is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing. Nothing here limits liability the law does not allow to be limited, such as for our own fraud or intentional wrongdoing.

9. Ending

You may stop using Briar at any time and ask for your information to be exported and deleted (see the Privacy Policy). We may suspend access for misuse and may change or end the service; during the beta we may do so without notice.

10. Changes and law

We will tell you before a change that matters applies to you. These terms are governed by Texas law, and disputes are for the state and federal courts of Texas. If a part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.

Early access

Briar does the admin. You do the part only a licensed human can.

Briar is onboarding a small number of independent life agents. If you are spending your week on administration instead of clients, get in touch and tell us what your week actually looks like.
